Hearts

Hearts is easily my favorite classic card game. In this trick-taking game, the leader players a single card of a chosen suit, and everyone else plays one card, with the highest card in suit taking the trick. As the lead passes around the table, players gain points as they take Hearts during the tricks. In most games, points are good, but Hearts is all about coming in with the fewest points possible. The first player to reach 100 points loses, and the game ends.

Hearts is a perfect game to build your gaming skills. Mastery comes through counting cards, considering probabilities, and most importantly, Shooting the Moon. In a given round, if a player captures every single point, they get off for free, while all of their opponents gain the maximum number of points.

Play this game today. And then tomorrow, and the day after that. Every day. Hearts is that kind of game.
