Sheriff of Nottingham

Sheriff of Nottingham is a fantastic game of lying, deception, and bribery. Players take turns playing the Sheriff, while everyone else tries to get their goods to market without being searched. If the Sheriff doesn't search, all those goods become victory points, and the player with the most victory points is the winner!

Seems simple enough, but players have to announce the kind of goods they're bringing to the market. They can only say they are bringing a single type of good, no matter what they actually put into their market bag. So players are put into the position where lying about their goods helps them gain more victory points. Especially since illegal contraband is worth the most. Which is why you might want to try to bribe the Sheriff so they look the other way.

Sheriff of Nottingham is a fantastic game for a bunch of practiced liars. It is a brutal game if this is your first time telling lies in a game. If you don't have a poker face, don't play this game. Because this game isn't for you! It's for the scoundrels and rogues out there who have no problem with a little bit of theoretical deception.
